Nandi the bull is Shiva's primary vehicle and his principal disciple. The close association of Shiva and Nandi explains the presence of a statue of Nandi at the gate of virtually all temples dedicated to Shiva.

Replicated in black stone (Krishna Shila), crafted by hand and hand colored, by temple artisans of Karnataka, sculpting temple idols through generations down 400 years.

This sacred possession has been physically escorted and blessed at the very feet of the Deity in its sacred shrine in Mysore.
